The problem im experiencing is a flat tire thumping sound whenever ONLY when I accelerate when im in drive. If I let off the gas, rev on N, Idle, or just give it gas while hold the brake I hear nothing. However lately ive been hearing what appears to be a light roaring sound from the same area that this noise is coming from. That would be around the front left tire area of my Toyota Corolla. I purchased new rims and tires thinking it would solve my problem but made it worse. Now the sound is louder and at almost any speed. I went to a shop and was told the LH wheel bearing was bad. I had it replaced and the thumping sound that i got when accelerating disappeared. I got my alignment done and a new tire. Everything seemed good until about a few hours later when I drove again and the sound came back, and now also happens when I let off the gas. However it's more quieter but there. This sound is like a flat tire kinda thumping. Honestly at this point I hope it isn't a engine/tranny problem considering i have 145k on my Toyota corolla 06. I drive it hard too but usually kept it in good shape with maintenance. A few things I wanna mentioned are the owner before me cut 1 coil off the springs. So when I jack up the car the springs move around as if they were decompressed. When I turn I can hear them shifting around. I also just noticed when I had my car on a ramp that the springs are correctly aligned. They appear to be slanted and off. Ideas? I seriously suspect the CV to be the source. Perhaps i installed it bad or it just failed. However your usual signs of failure aren't there. Maybe the ring broke off? There's some play in the axle. I had it replaced 3 times already for tearing. I also suspect the front center motor mount to be bad. when I shift from R to D it jumps hard and I can see cracks. I wanted to add that the sound is ONLY coming from the Driver side front. The same side that the car seems to pull towards (bad alignment), bad CV axle, and bad wheel bearing. All this happened around the time the owner had the springs cut. car insurance. Chrysler . How to Replace a Tail Light in a 2001 CavalierThe 2001 Chevy Cavalier was available in coupe or sedan. While the models have different rear-end designs, they both use the same taillight bulb. Additionally, the replacement procedure is the same, regardless of the configuration. Inoperative taillights are a safety hazard. Other drivers may not be able to see you slowing down or stopping fast enough to react in a safe manner. Install a new taillight bulb immediately to prevent causing an accident or getting a ticket. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Phillips-head screwdriver (optional) Gloves Replacement bulb 3057 Step by Step : 1 Open the Cavalier's trunk. If your car has the factory convenience net, unhook it from the side mounts, and then unscrew the net fasteners with a Phillips-head screwdriver. If your Cavalier does not have the factory convenience net, pry the fastener off with your hand. 2 Grasp the side panel and pull it away from the inside of the trunk. With the fastener removed, the panel comes off with ease. This exposes the taillight. 3 Hold the socket assembly by its body, not by the wires protruding from the back. Turn the assembly counterclockwise to release it and pull it out. 4 Gently remove the bulb from the socket by pulling it straight back. Put on a pair of clean gloves or use a rag, and insert the new bulb into the assembly. Don't twist or turn it. 5 Reinsert the socket assembly into place. Turn it clockwise. Reattach the side panel to the inside of the trunk. If your Cavalier has the factory convenience net, tighten the fastener with a Phillips-head screwdriver, and then hook the net back to it. If your Cavalier does not have the convenience net, push the fastener back on with your hand. Tips & Warnings The replacement bulb is all glass. It does not have its own connector or base. If you don't wear gloves, you may damage the bulb. The oil produced by your skin is harmful to the bulb.
Chrysler . How to Replace a 98 Ford Mustang Tail LightReplacing the tail light on your Mustang is a simple repair that can be done right at home. Most of the time, burned out tail lights are attributed to failed or missed vehicle routine maintenance. The bulbs for your tail lights should be serviced or changed once every 12 to 18 months. Damage to the tail lights can also happen from water leaking in the trunk area that you're unaware of. Handling the tail lights with bare hands during installation causes burnouts as well. Changing the tail light for your Mustang will require you accessing the trunk area. The repair with the proper tools should take 20 minutes or less from start to finish. Always keep safety in mind when attempting repairs to your car's electrical system. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Flat-head screwdriver Socket wrench set Latex gloves Dielectric grease Tail lightRemoving the Mustang's Tail Light Step by Step : 1 Turn the power on to the tail light. Identify which of the tail lights needs replacing, then turn the power back off. 2 Pop the trunk and push everything inside the trunk toward the back of the backseat wall. Fold or roll the trunk carpeting back so that it is out of the way. 3 Remove all six of the plastic retaining clips from the trim at the license plate wall with your flat-head screwdriver. Place the clips in a safe location so they are not misplaced. Lift the entire trim panel vertically to remove it. Do this slowly because there are wires behind the trim that may be caught up. Place the trim in the backseat of the car so that it's not accidentally stepped on and broken. 4 Remove the four retaining nuts that secure the tail light lens to the car's frame with your socket wrench. Place them in your pants pocket for safekeeping. Using both hands, carefully grasp each side of the tail light lens. Pull the tail light lens outward away from the car slowly. There are wires connected to the lens, so do this slowly. Flip the tail light face ("red") down and let it rest on the car's bumper. 5 Squeeze in the tabs on the tail light's socket assembly. Rotate the socket assembly ¼ turn counterclockwise to unlock it from its position. Slowly remove the bulb from the tail light lens. Use care so that you won't break the bulb off inside of the lens. Remove the bulb by gently pulling it straight out of its socket. Do not turn, push or twist the bulb, because it may break in your hand or the socket itself. Replacing the Tail Light Step by Step : 1 Put on your latex gloves and inspect the new tail light. Check for any signs of damaged that you can readily see. Make sure the filament in the bulb is intact. Compare both old and new tail lights to make sure they are identical. 2 Place a hair-line bead of the dielectric grease on the metal contacts on both sides of the bulb. Do not get any of the grease on the bulb whatsoever. If the grease gets on the bulb, you must start again with a fresh tail light. Wiping the dielectric grease off of the bulb is not good enough. 3 Gently push the new tail light into its socket securely. Insert the bulb slowly back into the hole on the tail light lens. Turn the socket assembly ¼ turn clockwise to lock it into position. 4 Raise the tail light and place it back into position on the car's frame. Make sure that there aren't any wires pinched or sticking out from under the lens. Return the four retaining nuts to secure the tail light lens. Do not overtighten the nuts; one quarter turn past hand tight will be sufficient. 5 Install the trim panel and all six of the plastic retaining clip. Unroll the trunk's carpeting so that it is in its original position. Turn the power on to the tail lights and check your repair. This exact procedure can be followed to replace your other tail light if need be. Tips & Warnings To avoid back-to-back repairs, it is recommended that you changed both tail lights at the same time. This will create even wear on the bulbs and also help you keep track of when the last repair was done. Never, ever touch the tail light bulbs with bare hands. Oils from your hands will deposit on the bulb and cause it to burn out quickly from overheating. *If your car has a manual choke (as opposed to an automatic choke), see whether the butterfly valve opens and closes when someone pushes the choke knob on the dashboard in and out. Don't let anyone start or accelerate the car while you're looking down the carburetor. It could backfire. 4. With the emergency brake on and the gearshift in Park or Neutral, start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. By the time the car has warmed up, the butterfly should open so that you can see past it, down the barrel of the carburetor. 5. If the butterfly valve refuses to open or close, try wiggling it with your finger. The valve may simply be stuck because of dirt or poor lubrication. If wiggling it with your finger doesn't work, squirt a little carburetor cleaner or automatic choke cleaner on the moving parts. Then wipe them dry and put a drop of oil on them. If this doesn't work, the next sections tell you how to adjust your choke properly. Adjusting an automatic choke Before you can adjust your choke, you need to know what type it is. Figure 640

If you're not sure, consult the choke specifications in your owner's manual. If the information isn't there, try a service manual for your vehicle's make, model, and year, or call the service department at the dealership and ask them what type of choke your vehicle has, and what the proper setting is. Then follow the instructions that pertain to your type of choke. Part III: Keeping Your Car in Good Condition, System by System Adjusting a thermostatic spring choke Many cars have a thermostatic spring choke (see Figure 13-15). Some are riveted in place and can only be overhauled by a mechanic, but if you have an older car and have trouble starting it in the morning, you may be able to adjust yours. Chrysler . Before you fiddle with the choke, check the specifications for your automatic choke and see whether it's properly set (if the proper notch on the carburetor housing is opposite the indicator on the plastic cap shown in Figure 13-16). If the choke is properly set and the valve doesn't close, try adjusting the thermostatic spring choke to a richer setting. If the choke is not properly set, adjust it to the proper setting. To accomplish either of these tasks, follow these steps: 1. Loosen the three screws that keep the plastic cap in place (see Figure 13-16). 2.
